Hi Rose,

Just would like to let you know what is going on with my health. The visiting nurses have been coming to the house and they have been concerned that my temperature has been going up. They have been talking with my doctor and they may have to put me back in the hospital.

It seems that I'm not getting better like I hoped, but I won't give up the fight just yet. I'm very tired and very weak. They think I'm still fighting septic shock infection. So I'm still pretty sick.     Scotty    

Prayer Request for Linda (Spagnolo) Lattanzi's husband, Peter

A Prayer Request is needed for Linda (Spagnolo) Lattanzi's husband, Peter. I just received a telephone call that they are allowing Peter to go home today from the rehab. He is in such fragile condition and has gone through so much for such a very long time being in and out of hospitals, surgeries and rehabs.

I strongly believe in the power of prayers. Please pray for Peter and also for our dear friend and classmate, Linda. Linda will need nurses coming to her house for assistance. I don't believe she has 5 minutes for herself. She is so devoted to Peter and is such a wonderful person.

I have requested prayers for Peter in the past, however, he needs more prayers now more than ever!

Linda, I wish I lived closer to help out whether it be do some errands for you or cook some meals for you..........I feel so helpless living in another state.  Should you need anything, please let me know.  I'm sure our wonderful friends that live close by will be more than happy to help out anyway they can.  We are here for you!  I know that Diane & Chuckie and John Henry and others has been by your side to help you.  Others will love to help too.  Just let us know what you need.

Peter Zaccone's sister passed away!

KANE~ Carol A. (Zaccone) of Salem formerly of Swampscott and Revere died Thursday after a gallant four year battle with Scleroderma.

Carol was the beloved wife of the late Walter and mother of Dina LeDuke and her husband Brian of Oakham. She is also survived by brother Peter Zaccone of Danvers and Loving partner James Evans of Winthrop. She also leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Carol taught with love and distinction for 40yrs in the Revere School System. Her dedication to her students and to her classroom was the hallmark of her spirit.

In honor of Carol and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation 462 Boston St., Suite 1-1 Topsfield, MA 01983. Help Carol continue this fight against a devastating disease.

Services to celebrate Carol’s life will be at St. Anthony’s Church in Revere on Monday, January 31, 2001 at 10am. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Arrangements under the direction of the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons~Bruno Funeral Home 128 Revere St., Revere, MA 02151

Message from Fred Ciampi

Rose,

Thank you and all of my classmates for your kind thoughts and prayers. It has been a very trying time. My son faced his battle with cancer valiantly. He never complained and was strong throughout his treatments. He was in a lot of pain and suffered terribly at the end. Young Fred is in a better place, but we miss him terribly.

I want to thank Sal & Carolyn Carmosino and Floy (Bright) Johnson for joining Our family and Fred's' friends at our Celebration of his Life.

Jean and I have returned to Tampa. We are slowly getting our lives back to normal.

Update - Email just received from Sal Carmosino!

OK... The Cardiologist was great!  Unfortunately my primary doctor's office sent this guy nothing from my previous visits there and the reports from the hospital....I wasn't too happy about that....and if I ever go back to him..I will certainly let him know about it.

So, I had to go in there cold.  Fortunately, I keep everything and I had all of the ER reports from the 3 times I was there.

So, he saw the reports...examined me thoroughly and concluded that the pain did not come from the aneurysm. Also he said the ER's diagnosis was premature. What I have is an enlarged Aortic blood vessel, that if not treated will turn into an aneurysm...so in effect, it's a pre-aneurysm. I was elated at that news.....

He also said that my previous BP medication Diovan 160mg was not enough to lower my BP. Even if I doubled it , he said it still wouldn't be enough. He then set me up for more testing next week...a Stress Test, an Echocardiogram and possibly an Angiogram to check for possible artery blockage.

This is the information and the plan I was looking for. He said since the pain is not related to the heart, we have to find the source.  I know I'm still not out of the woods yet, but at least we're on the right path to find an answer....and take care of it which makes me feel better. The nodule is barely a dot and will still be looked at in 6 months...not 3. He was annoyed that the ER took two CT Scans in three weeks which is excessive radiation.

My test is scheduled for next Tuesday and then again Mon Jan 31. I like that he s getting right to it instead of waiting. He also gave me an electronic BP monitor to use at home for 10 days. He wants me to chart the readings and bring them back to him.....my kind of guy.

His monitor shows my BP good so far....so I'm not sure about this Diovan not being enough...but that will be his call. But I was very impressed with him and everyone was right.....I needed Cardiologist....he was so professional and no guessing about what he wants to do to find the answer....I asked about the location of the problem area. He said it was in the upper chest. the Scan didn't check the stomach area. So he pressed and pushed and determined that the stomach wasn't a problem area.

But this was only a preliminary exam since I was seeing him for the first time. He concluded that we can make a final determination after all the testing is done...and he will prescribe a different medication.  Overall, I felt very good leaving there and I cant wait for the tests so we can get going on a treatment. I know all of our classmates are interested in my status and I do appreciate the support.

 

New subject:  Carolyn and I are going to the memorial service for Fred Ciampi's son tomorrow in Watertown, MA.  I was wondering if any of our classmates would be going. I hope so.....Strong as he seems, Fred needs the support from everyone especially losing a son so young at age 38.....
