Prayer Request for our Friend, Paula Taylor!

With Paula's permission, I am requesting prayers for her, this a copy of an email I have received from Paula recently as I was inquiring how she was feeling.  I believe strongly about the power of prayers and Paula does too:

ROSE

I AM HAVING PROBLEMS NOW FROM THE SURGERY I HAD TO REMOVE THE LUMP IN MY NECK.  I HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO EAT MUCH BECAUSE I HAVE SO MUCH PAIN WHEN I DO EAT. IT IS LIKE I HAVE A CANKOR SORE IN MY THROAT AND WHEN I EAT IT FEELS LIKE I POURED SALT ON THE SORES. I HAD BEEN TAKING IBUPROFEN BEFORE I ATE TO EASE THE PAIN.

I HAD TO SEE MY ONCOLOGIST THURSDAY AND HE SAID THAT THERE I SKIN HANGING IN THE THE THROAT AND I HAVE SOME LIASIONS THAT ARE VERY SORE LOOKING.

I NOW HAVE TO GO BACK TO DR EMERICK BECAUSE HE IS THE SURGEON. IN THE MEANTIME, DR CLARK GAVE ME A PRESCRIPTION FOR MY THROAT. IT IS A LIQUID WITH LYDOCAINE, BENADRYL AND SOMETHING ELSE TO NUMB THE THROAT SO THAT I CAN EAT. I LOST 6 POUNDS SINCE MY LAST VISIT.

I TRIED THE PRESCRIPTION THURSDAY NIGHT AND IT WORKED. I SAT DOWN TO WATCH TELEVISION AFTER I ATE AND THAT IS THE LAST THING I REMEMBER.  I HAVE SUCH A LOW TOLERANCE TO DRUGS. I AM CUTTING DOWN ON THE AMOUNT PRESCRIBED. I NEED TO BE ABLE TO FUNCTION WITHOUT FALLING ASLEEP.

Great Send from Barbara Cohen!

Hi Rose---Hope all is well---Had a great time at the reunion--only wish I had more time to visit with you.

Everyone looked great and it was so much fun to catch up with so many old friends.

I ran into Cynthia Goldenberg Douglas at supermarket--she was with her husband Joe. It seems that he was not well for a while and she could not make it to reunion---I told her about the lantern and all the great things you have done to bring our class together.

She asked if I would pass on her information so she could also be included in the blog. so many positive memories--and all because you have brought us all together!!!

Thank-you --Love you----Barbara

Forwarding Message from Sal Carmosino!

To all of my classmates who had me in their prayers and thoughts. I wish to thank you for your concern about my recent health problems.

The Gall Bladder surgery went well but I still have stomach/digestion problems and will now undergo a series of tests to determine the ongoing issues.

Please believe when I was being wheeled into the Operating Room, I kept thinking of my classmates that had me in their prayers...which gave me strength to get thorough this ordeal.

Thank you again for your support and best wishes.

Sal

Welcome Camille Sposito Brackett to the group!

Camille, it was great to see you and Annette at our 50th Class Reunion!

It will take you a while to read all the Posts since inception from 2008.  You can start by viewing the archives on the right hand side of the sidebar.

Also, put your email address in the box on the side bar where it says:  "Follow by Email" then click "Submit".  It saves me less reminders to the gang.

Hope to see you again whenever we have a Luncheon during a couple of my trips back up to Boston.

Great Send from Meri Mastronardi!

Hello and welcome to all of you RHS and IC Classmates from 1962, as well as to our spouses, significant others, family and dear friends.

We are gathered here tonight to celebrate our 50th class reunion! Amazing, isn’t it? Where HAS the time gone? From those relatively carefree days til now. . . we’ve come a long, long way.
Well, we’ve made it through a lot of years, faced a lot of fears, shed our share of tears, as well as having lived through events of great joy, happiness and exaltation.

We’ve experienced moments of pride and wonder and beauty. . . all of which has molded us into the people we are today. We’re older and wiser, supposedly, and we’ve reached the stage in our lives where we have some perspective. We can look back and see what we “shoulda, woulda, coulda done” but didn’t, and what we DID do but perhaps shouldn’t have, and which decisions we made then that were absolutely right and that we would make again.

At any rate, we’re here!

Although that in itself is momentous. . .the fact that we graduated 50 years ago in the year 1962 makes that year especially eventful for us. But I thought you’d like to be reminded of a few other noteworthy happenings from that year:

The Cuban missile crisis, John Glenn orbiting the Earth, James Meredith desegregating Ole Miss. . . these are just a few great events from l962 that have been in history books for decades.

On a lighter note, did you know that l962 was the year the Beatles, Bob Dylan and The Beach Boys released their first records? Andy Warhol painted his Campbell’s Soup can and that Johnny Carson took over “The Tonight Show”. James Bond, 007, premiered in l962 and he’s outlasted the Soviet Union.

Think about how long 50 years is! Although, to tell you the truth, right now it doesn’t feel so long, does it? Not to me, anyway. My memories of those wonderful, bygone days are quite clear, as I’m sure yours are, too. . . mine include the beautiful red brick RHS building, the evocative aroma of oiled, wooden floors, the excellent teachers, the smoke filled Double-E where we danced the “travel” to Run Around Sue (among other juke box selections). . and at the beach, Hurley’s, the Cyclone, the Himalaya. . . on Broadway, the Revere Theatre. . .all are gone but are fondly recalled. . .

And look around us. . . despite our illusions (or are they delusions?) that we still “feel young” and “think young”. . . let’s face it , we’re not! Many of us are grandparents, for heaven’s sake. We’ve entered our so-called “golden years”. For many of us, these are years of comfortable retirement, filled with travel, relaxation, hobbies, health complaints, back problems, financial worries, Medicare issues, elder-parenting concerns, etc., etc., . . . but I digress.

How the world has changed since then. And we’ve changed, too. Some of us e-mail and are on Facebook (we may be old but we keep in touch) and we stay current. We have a Class of l962 WebPage, thanks to Rose. I’d like to recognize Rose Franciosa Sisti for her outstanding efforts on the Lantern. She keeps us all connected and she does it so well. Thanks again, Rose!

I will just say that those of us who graduated in l962 were witnesses to significant events, but to be a bit facetious, James Bond, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones. . . these are our life-long companions. They lasted so long because nobody else was ever able to knock them off. Like 007, nobody did it better! As with us, l962 grads. . . we’re still here! (still around)

Hail to us! But let’s first toast to those cherished and beloved members of our class who, most sadly and tragically, are no longer with us. . .may they rest in peace! And then, let’s toast to ourselves, to another bunch of years and to the memories of our carefree, wonderful youth!!

Update regarding Sal Carmosino

I received an email from Sal Carmosino this afternoon and his medical issues took a strange twist.  He had a severe attack that led him to the ER at a local hospital for 7 hours last night.

After more tests, it was finally determined that it was a Gall Bladder problem which mirrors many other illnesses.  He is now scheduled for emergency surgery for removal of his Gall Bladder on Monday.

Sal expressed that he is grateful for everyones thoughts and prayers and he is requesting the prayers continue on Monday.

Message from me regarding Spams!

I beefed up the security again on both of my blogs. Everyone will have to use the "word verification" which is a pain and also I have to approve all comments before they are posted due to all this spam that came across both my blogs recently. I spent over an hour deleting and reporting spam on many posts this morning.  All were about "viagra".  Everything should be fine now.

You will not be able to see your comment right after you typed it because they have to email me first to be approved so it will be posted after that.

What a pain in the neck.  This all happened because people were complaining about having to deal with the word verification feature and also they thought their comments were not being posted because they did not see it immediately so I removed all of those features and guess what happened????  Tons of spam!  So security is back on again.

Great Shares from Joanne Struz!

Hi Rose,

It was so good to see you at the reunion. You look wonderful and of course, I and the entire class of ’62 know that you are wonderful! It was a wonderful time! Everyone was happy to see each other.

Don’t you know that a week later, I was dining at a Route One restaurant with Mike and friends and ran into Diane, Priscilla, LeeAnn and some of their friends who were there celebrating a birthday! How amazing not to see people for soooo many years and now to meet up again so soon. I also walked into Market Basket one day last week and bumped right into Roger and Mary Ferullo! I had not seen them for the 50 years before the reunion and there they were! They live in the next town to me! We were so surprised as we never met up there in the past and are frequent patrons.

I want to express our sympathy once again on the passing of your sister. We would like to remember her with a donation to a charity of your choice or one that was dear to her. Would you please send us her name and the name of the charity if you wish. Otherwise, Mike and I will chose one.

I sure do hope to see you and perhaps some of our Florida classmates when we are in Jupiter. We are hoping to visit Key West for a few days this year while we are there. I will keep you informed of our whereabouts and maybe we can arrange something.

Be well and please keep in touch.

Love, Joanne
