Happy Easter!

On Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ. It is typically the most well-attended Sunday service of the year for Christian churches.

Christians believe, according to Scripture, that Jesus came back to life, or was raised from the dead, three days after his death on the cross. As part of the Easter season, the death of Jesus Christ by crucifixion is commemorated on Good Friday, always the Friday just before Easter. Through his death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus paid the penalty for sin, thus purchasing for all who believe in him, eternal life in Christ Jesus.

In Western Christianity, Easter marks the end of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline in preparation for Easter. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter Sunday. Eastern Orthodox churches observe Lent or Great Lent, during the 6 weeks or 40 days preceding Palm Sunday with fasting continuing during the Holy Week of Easter.

Because of Easter's pagan origins, and also because of the commercialization of Easter, many Christian churches choose to refer to the holiday as Resurrection Day.

Happy Passover to our Jewish classmates!

Passover Observances

Passover is divided into two parts:

The first two days and last two days (the latter commemorating the splitting of the Red Sea) are full-fledged holidays. Holiday candles are lit at night, and kiddush and sumptuous holiday meals are enjoyed on both nights and days. They don’t go to work, drive, write or switch on or off electric devices.

The middle four days are called chol hamoed, semi-festive “intermediate days,” when most forms of work are permitted.

NO CHAMETZ

To commemorate the unleavened bread that the Israelites ate when they left Egypt, They don’t eat—or even retain in their possession—any chametz from midday of the day before Passover until the conclusion of the holiday. Chametz means leavened grain—any food or drink that contains even a trace of wheat, barley, rye, oats, spelt or their derivatives, and which wasn’t guarded from leavening or fermentation. This includes bread, cake, cookies, cereal, pasta and most alcoholic beverages. Moreover, almost any processed food or drink can be assumed to be chametz unless certified otherwise.

I sure hope I got all this information correctly.

Enjoy your holiday my dear friends.

Huggggggggggggggggggggggggs,

A Friend should be..................

A Friend Should be
Radical, Fanatical,
and Most of All, Mathematical…

A Friend should be Radical;

  • They should love you when you’re unlovable,
  • Hug you when you’re unhuggable,
  • And bear you when you’re unbearable.
A Friend should be Fanatical;
  • They should cheer when the whole world boos,
  • Dance when you get good news,
  • And cry when you cry too.
But most of all, a Friend should be Mathematical;
  • They should multiply the joy, divide the sorrow,
  • Subtract the past, and add to tomorrow,
  • Calculate the need deep in your heart,
  • And always be bigger than the sum of all their parts

St. Patrick's Day is approaching!

When it comes to St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, Boston is tough to beat.

The green, white and orange flags fly high, the drummers beat a steady tune to march to and people come out to the parade in South Boston in droves, brandishing green apparel and temporary shamrocks tattooed to their cheeks.

And the beer. Of course, we can’t forget the green beer!

So you wanna know where you can find corned beef and cabbage in Boston? Durgin Park near Faneuil Hall is known for its traditional New England Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinners.

Keep in mind that Boston Restaurant Week begins on March 17 this year, so you'll be able to enjoy great dining deals.

Cook Up Your Own Irish Feast If you're celebrating St. Patrick's Day at home, this link contains a great collection of Irish recipes from New England.
