Dear Family and Friends,

As most of you probably know by now Steve and I lost our beloved son Steven, Jr. in a tragic motorcycle accident on Friday, Oct. 17. The pain of losing him is unbearable. Stevie is 42 years old, a wonderful son and father to 3 beautiful children, Brandi, David, and Dakota. 

He recently became engaged to the love of his life and they were planning to be married next Sept., his beautiful Gena has made him the happiest he has ever been. Gena, I want to thank you for making him so happy. We love you and we always will. You will always and forever be our Gena too.

Stevie, your Brother and Sisters are devastated by your loss they love you and grieve for you. Dad and I will never be the same without you, but we know my darling son that we will all be together again someday, in the meantime Stevie your job is to take care of Patrick. 

Love you my son and miss you so. Fly with the angles my baby.

Great Sends from Sal Carmosino!

On Sunday Sept 28, 2014, the RHS 62 classmates held yet, another luncheon at The Marina Restaurant & Bar at the Wharf in Revere.

The second gathering this year was featured by an appearance by our Lantern Editor, Rose Franciosa Sisti. The luncheon had about 30 people which shows that the classmates enjoy seeing each other more than just once every five years.  It was also a treat to see Rose once again.

As in the past, the Sunday buffet had a great food selection including the best desserts anywhere. Ironically enough there was a small gathering of the class of 1964 there as well.   Some of the faces seemed recognizable.....but we have all we can do to recognize our own classmates!

Photos were taken by Rose herself which may be seen on the Lantern. Hopefully, these get togethers will inspire other classmates, whom we haven't seen in years, to attend these luncheons as well.

Our thanks to owners of the Wharf, John Henry and his wife Debra for allowing us to enjoy another luncheon at their restaurant.

It would be nice to designate the Wharf to be our permanent gathering place, where the food is great and  brings an opportunity for us to come back to our hometown of Revere.

Joan Rivers is Hilarious on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show FULL INTERVIEW,...

Click on the arrow in the middle of the UTube photo above to view the video!  It is Hilarious!  Johnny was my first favorite comedian and Joan my second.

She was sharp-witted, quick and never afraid to speak her mind. Forget just being a funny female, Joan Rivers was one of the most hilarious comedians of all time.

It's with great sadness that we now have to say goodbye to Rivers at the age of 81. Over her legendary career, Joan did everything from standup to hosting numerous shows, and no matter what she always kept us laughing.

I'll miss watching Fashion Police.  She always had me in stitches laughing!  Oh, and my Johnny, my two all time favorites are gone but not forgotten.

Peter Pierce's wife passed away! I just found this information on Facebook.

Florence V. (DeDonato) Pierce of Stoneham passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the Winchester Hospital. She was 71 years of age.

Born on September 1, 1942 in Boston, Florence was the loving daughter of the late Michael A. DeDonato and Angelica (Ciasullo) DeDonato. Florence was a warm and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all who were privileged to have known her.

Florence was a dedicated supervisor in the Insurance Industry for several years. She was passionate about her family. They came first and foremost in her life. She loved spending time with the ones who she loved and thoroughly enjoyed traveling to Foxwoods.

Florence was the beloved wife of Peter F. Pierce. She was the devoted mother of Suzanne Pierce and her husband Scott Chandler and son Brian Pierce. Florence was the cherished grandmother of Ulric F. Pierce and Orson W. Pierce. She was the dear sister of Millie Tasker, Nina Lepore and her late husband Victor, Vera DeDonato, Diana Iula and her husband Tony and the late Frank DeDonato and Mary DeDonato.

Florence was the loving aunt of Lisa Tasker, Michael Iula, Christina Iula, Michelle Lescovitz, Paul Lescovitz, Richard Lescovitz, Jr. and the late David Lescovitz. She was the caring sister in law of Patricia Lescovitz and her late husband Richard, Sr., Donna Pierce, and the late Robert Pierce.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Florence's Eternal Life in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St. Malden at 10am. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share remembrances with the Family on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 4-8pm in the Funeral Home. Parking attendants and elevator are available. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

Earthquake in California! Received a response to my email from Steve Shaw so far.

Hi Rose, Leatrice, Jack and Anne,

Everything is fine at our house.  We, my partner Kum Mo and I, live about 70 miles from the center of the real damage.  At 3:30 this morning, I was awakened by a severe shaking of the house and everything in it.  It continued past the usual five to ten seconds, and that led me to nudge Kum Mo, who otherwise, I guess, would have slept through it, saying to her:  “This looks like a serious one.”   It continued on for about fifteen or so seconds more, although not timing it, it’s hard to tell. 

If you’ve never been through a quake, I can tell you that time extends in one’s perception so that 25 seconds feels like 25 minutes.   Napa City, close to the epicenter, got walloped, with sever injuries to people and damage to buildings, as well as fires, enough so that the governor called a state of emergency.  

It wasn’t the Big One, which we’re told to expect someday, but it was enough to rattle everything, including our sense of well-being.
