Message from Meri....sad news!

Hi Rose,

I happened to see in the obituaries yesterday that both Ellen (Huestis) Santossuosso (from Immaculate) and Paul Sinatra (I think he was a year ahead of us) died. . . how very sad.

I remember them both so clearly and am saddened to hear such news. I don't know how they died. If you hear anything, please let me know.

Thanks,
Meri

Great Shares from Anon!

The Freedom Bell in Berlin pealed for the first time in Berlin on October 24th (1950). I put a short summary history of the bell and the use of the bell as a logo for over 50 years.

One can read it at http://www.historytimes.com/ and listen to it as it is heard in Sunday morning programs on over 160 radio stations in Germany (text in German). Also, there is a collage of the bell as used in the various logos. Continued best regards to all. Anon

Great Shares from Jay Gottlieb!

Awesome butterfly

Hi Rose--

Thanks so much for the contact and the Lantern...you seem to have this well developed, great job. I am not so "web enabled" but always impressed at what can be done.

Below is some email info and photos I sent to Meri and Donna T, feel free to use it.

Good to hear from friends from RHS. I have not been in touch with anyone from RHS since leaving Mass in 1967, except contact with Meri last two years and a quick phone w/Wes Covitz related to the reunion (I missed the reunion in 07).

Briefly, after BC 1966 (say hello to classmate Vinny Gennaco) USAF 3 yrs then corporate America in NY and Greenwich Ct. UConn MBA 1975. Married in 1970, divorced 1987, married 1989 to Gale. Out to Chicago in 1983 where I have been doing private equity and then our own fund/businesses. Marc and Melissa from first marriage (and 2 grand kids) and Margaux w/Gale (she's 19 now and first year at U of Washington in Seattle).

More later, but forwarding an email to Meri w/info and photos. Look forward to learning more about all later.

Welcome Aboard Jay Gottlieb!

I was so excited to receive Meri's email today to add Jay Gottlieb to our List of Forever Friends!

Welcome aboard Jay, I'm sure you must have a story or two to tell us what you have been doing since 1962?

Just email me personally at rjsisti@aol.com and I will be happy to copy and paste your story and also add any photos you may like to share with us. Since I own and maintain the site, I'm the only person allowed to post an entry but all of you are allowed to leave comments and email me with any suggestions you may have.

You may add a "Comment" on the bottom of any entry you view on The Lantern. Just look for the words "Comments" below the post. If you do not wish to create a Google account in order to use a username and password.......you may use the anonymous feature...just put your name inside the text so we know who you are click on the circle area for anonymous and then click on submit and publish your comment. If you have any questions or concerns, email me personally and I will give you my home number and I will walk you through any steps that you may not understand!

It will take you a while to view all the entries since inception in June of 2008. Just keep clicking on "Older Posts" when you reach the bottom of the page. Or, you can view older entries by the archives on the sidebar.

So happy to have you with us! I try to remind everyone to look for updates as this site only allows me to have 10 people on for alerts when a comment is made. I'm working on how to add more.

Hope all is well with you.......Anxious to hear all about what you have been doing....

Great Shares from Estella (Follett) Pohner!

October 3, 2009

Dear Rose,

It is Saturday and I am working a half-day and looking at the Lantern Site. Just have to write and tell you what an outstanding job you do. Thank you so much for all the work you have put into the site. Oh those leaves and autumn in the air there is nothing like FALL in New England. I love it. Right now it is pouring out. However, we have had some cool fall days and perfect for sweater weather. That reminds me does anyone else want to go out in September and buy new clothes as in going back to school. I love buying new fall sweaters and clothes as it is my favorite season and reminds me of my days in Revere and going to school.

I’m sure 90 degree weather can get depressing. Ha Ha. Really…my sister lives in Ormond Beach and she says that September is usually the hottest month which makes sense, as the earth heats up and the sun so it is too bad we could not transfer some of that up here as we never got a summer this year. The Fall is supposed to be cold. Oh well, my saying is “It is what it is”.

I was so sorry to miss getting together with everyone in May, but my oldest sister turned 80 and we had a big surprise party for her that day and my youngest son, Tim was home and his girlfriend, Amy came for the first time to Foxboro, so we had a great weekend as it included Mother’s Day.

I love reading the Blog and seeing pictures of everyone. Dora, Leatrice, Billy Cataldo, Anne and Jackie, etc. Janice Scandone….please say hi to her for me. I believe you see her periodically.

I am enclosing a check to help pay for some of the equipment you have purchased so that we can all benefit from our wonderful site and to help you with all your hard work.

Where has Estella traveled this summer? A week in Newport….loved it. Very relaxing which I needed and then I spend 6 days going, staying and coming home from P.E.I.

Three of us drove up and I have to tell you P.E.I. is a beautiful place. We stayed at an Inn and went to a Retreat. So it was very rejuvenating. The family that held the retreat are amazing. A father and three children, one daughter, three sons.

They just built a new Concert Hall and give concerts on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday nights. Their Christian Music is great and they are all very talented.

We toured some of the Island and went to Ann of Green Gables. Very interesting. We ate at some outstanding restaurants and found a great Tea House. I never realized the water was so warm there but it is and the beaches are beautiful. A very big Scottish influence. As you know….travel is my passion. So this was unexpected and very enjoyable.

Well, I am rambling and will sign off for now. Keep up the GREAT, GREAT WORK WE ALL LOVE WHAT YOU DO.

Love,
Estella (Follett) Pohner

Happy Halloween!
