Message from Billy Melchionno!

Classmates:

I have had a small plaque plate made up in memory of Pauline Riley which I will place on her unmarked grave site on Memorial Day. The plaque plate will say "IN MEMORY OF PAULINE RILEY 1944-1955".

If any of you want to join me for an hour, we can arrange a meeting place and proceed from there?  Please reply!

Billy

  1. I'm surprised that Pauline's family has never made a plaque for her gravesite.

Billy, That was very generous of you to do.

  2. Billy how nice of you to do that, I never knew Pauline but I remembered the hearing the heart breaking story of what happened. I think that what you are doing is a beautiful thing.
She was/is a member of this this class and remembering her is just beautiful. It is sad that no family member stepped up to the plate and did something for her memory. I do hope that some classmates can find a few minutes to spare and join you. You all were too young to do anything when it all happened ,so this would be a good time to show your respect and rememberance for her....I live in Arizona but I will say a special prayer for her/to her on that day....Keep us posted as to your day....

  3. I am forwarding to Rose the memorial day eulogy that was read for Pauline Riley at the gravesite where Billy laid the plaque he had made and where Billy, John, Janet and I were in attendance. I hope that Rose is able to post it to provide "closure" for those of us who knew Pauline. We will remember a lovely, sweet, smart young girl who was our classmate and friend.

  4. How nice of you Meri to take the time to do so. I am sure it was a very tender moment for all....we have all heard so many tragic stories and we just could shake our heads and "oh, isn't that sad," well this time some of you were able to take care of little piece and that is quite nice of that sad puzzle. instead of saying "tsk tsk" you did something...
