Rosh Hashanah is the start of the Jewish New Year, and is celebrated during the month of Tishrei, which falls during September and/or October. This year – 2011– Rosh Hashanah begins at sunset, Wednesday September 28, 2011. It is the Hebrew Year 5772.
Rosh Hashanah is considered the time of redemption, the day of judgment and is considered a solemn festival. On this day, G_d Almighty decides the future fate for each and every Jewish individual for the coming year — a person's fate is judged yearly. On Rosh Hashanah, those of the Jewish faith are inscribed in the Book of Life. On Yom Kippur, which is ten days later, the Book is sealed.
To all of our Jewish friends:

ReplyDeleteIt is nice to take pause and appreciate and, respect each others holidays. I remember growing up my very best girl friend was Jewish. We both looked forward to each others holidays and actually celebrated them as best we could,in our own little way we tried to even dress up for the holiday...
Thanks Rose for the wishes on Rosh Hashanah.
ReplyDeleteWhen I say my prayers, I shall pray that everyone will have a Happy & Healthy good year.
