We went into "town" a lot but there was always something special about going in at Christmas time at night to see the windows of Filene's and Jordan Marsh. Then inside to see Santa and the large model train display. After that we'd walk up to the Commons to see the lights and stop at Bailey's for hot fudge sundaes before heading home. Such lovely memories. Thanks Peter, for the picture.
Great pictures, first they reminded me of when I was little going to see Santa, sometimes it would be the Filene"s one, another time the one in Jordan's...but lets not forget Raymond's and Gilchrist... It also brings back memories of later years of working in Filenes and the excitement of being there around Christmas. Seems I remember a date or two of going to see the windows, then off to the commons for the lights and of course Baileys...(yes Ruth, there is always Baileys)
Thank you Peter Pierce for these wonderful memories.
ReplyDeleteEach Christmas, I couldn't wait to view the decorated, animated windows of Filenes and Jordan Marsh.
