Hi Rose,
Just found The Lantern Blog a few days ago and really enjoy catching up on the last 50 years. I pretty much lost contact with everyone back East since I moved to Arizona 25 yrs. ago.
I live in Cave Creek, Az. on my small "gentelman's ranch" and have been retired for six years now. I will not be able to make it to the reunion in Aug. but do wish the best to all my classmates.
Keep up the excellent work on The Lantern.
Jim Bellino
Jim,
ReplyDeleteWhat a pleasant surprise to receive your email today.
Welcome aboard!
Hugs, Rose
Rose.....no wife these days and never had any kids. I do share my life with a couple of cats and a horse......and Arizona.....for sure it's a "DRY" heat!!!!
ReplyDeleteJim
Dora DiBartolomeo recently moved to Arizona! She is good in leaving comments so look out for them.
ReplyDeleteIf Dora is ever in the Cave Creek area she is more than welcome to stop in.....and that goes out to any other classmates who may find themselves in Arizona. Cave Creek is just on the North side of Phoenix/Scottsdale.
ReplyDeleteJim
Jim,
ReplyDeleteOMG, my son lives very close to you and in fact last year he lived in Cave Creek.
Sincerely,
Donna Toothaker Ying
Hi Jim, Just looked you up in the year book, "never seen with out your car- and a real handy andy---would make a great engineer...." Gotta love that old year book....(so where's the car??LOL)
ReplyDeleteNice to see you connected with the Lantern.
I am living in Goodyear..and wow is it hot..Went to the Polish Festival in Phoenix yesterday...HOT HOT HOT
Can't believe I am a "valley-girl" at this age..
welcome aboard and stay in touch...
Hi Donna and Dora...glad to hear from you both. Donna....where is your sone at now? How did he end up in Cave Creek? Do you come out here to visit him?
ReplyDeleteDora...yeah...I dug out the yearbook too....wow...I did cut my hair several(many) years ago and traded the car for a cowboy pick-up truck. The heat did come early this year but it's supposed to cool of by Thurs. It does stay a little cooler in Cave Creek than in Phx. as we have less hot top and concrete here. In my area it's still mostly dirt roads.
If anyone wants to contact me my E mail is jrbellino@aol.com and ph.# 480-488-1021.
Dora....how long have you been out here? Polish festival....I didn't think you were Polish.
Everybody....please keep in touch.... think this is GREAT....it is bringing back some wonderfull memories.
Jim
Jim, not Polish but I do love ethnic festivals ! It was a fun day.
ReplyDeleteWhat got you to move out here? For my husband and I it was our retirement choice.
Dora.....Simple....I moved out here cuz I wanted to live longer! All kidding aside...I got tired of the cold, ice, snow and then the spring rains with mosquitoes to follow. When I found out what the climate was like out here and that you could actually enjoy being outdoors without having to fight off mosquitoes ......not to mention there are no natural disasters here....it was a no brainer. I have had horses for years and enjoy the fact that I can be outdoors and enjoy my animals year round. Sooo decided to take Horace Greely's advise and "go West young man". I really have felt more at home out here than I ever did in Revere. When I first came here 25 yrs. ago the town of Cave Creek was just a small quiet cowboy town(I loved it).....now it's grown to be a big tourist attraction....progress I guess.
ReplyDeleteJust kidding you about the Polish festival.....
Gotta go now.....keep in touch.
Jim
I too got sick of the cold, ice and snow but now that I'm a widow, I miss my family and special friends. Don't get me wrong,I'm blessed with lovely friends here in Florida but they are not "Forever Friends" since the 3rd grade! LOL
ReplyDeleteWe are all so happy you found The Lantern. Were you searching online for the class of 1962 or how did you actually find us...just curious. So glad that you did and now with us again.
Have you read the entries since 2008?
Hugs, Rose
Rose...I found the Blog cuz Diane mentioned it in the letter and app. for the upcoming reunion. I have read most of the posts from 08 till now. Question for ya....in the 3rd. grade class picture you posted in June 08....who is the teacher in that picture? She looks a lot like I remember my 1st. grade teacher, Ms. Kosher? I don't remember who our 3rd. grade teacher was(getting old and senile I guess). In that picture that is me in the white shirt and bow tie directly in front of the teacher. I did spot you in the front row, left side. Also....in the Blog sidebar you note that there is a list of classmates who have past on posted in 09....but I cannot find it....can you point me in the right direction?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Jim
Jim,
ReplyDeleteNice of Diane to mention The Lantern in her correspondence to you and others.
The third grade teacher's name was Miss B ? Her last name definitely started with a B.
Meri remembered her name and it escapes me right now. Meri, if you are reading this please provide the info.
Sal Carmosino posted a beautiful Memorial tribute to the classmates that have passed away.
I believe it was in the Month of May, 2009.
I can also send you the list in a separate email to your personal email address.
So, am I understanding you right, you have completed all the posts for the year 2008 and 2009 already?
Kudos! Keep going. I'm proud of you that you have learned how to leave a "Comment".
The Blog originated in AOL's Journals and then AOL discontinued that service so all Journalers had to move over to Blogger.com. It was not a fun time for me to transfer all my work and animations over to another site. In the process, I think I might have lost a few entries.
Were you able to click on the links of photo albums I included during most of my trips upt to Boston?
Hugs, Rose
Jim,
ReplyDeleteFound the Memoriam entry dated on May 21, 2009.
So, go to the sidebar, then the year 2009, then to "May" then search for In Memoriam for RHS class of 1962 by Sal Carmosino
