I just found out today that Maria Oliva died. I happened to
communicate with her brother, Larry and he gave me
the sad news that she had passed away in May.
Maria was in the AC with me for
three years and we also went to Chatham College together for a couple of
years. She was a bright, charming, charismatic, eccentric person who captivated those who
knew her. For example, when we were at Chatham, there was a very
attractive, talented woman named Cheryl Hardwick who became friends with Maria.
You could tell she was very impressed with Maria's intelligence and quirkiness.
Well, Cheryl went on to become the pianist for the original band that played on
Saturday Night Live for years. That's the kind of person Maria had in her orbit, at
least, at that time.
Unfortunately, I lost touch
with her for many years. Maria was an interesting and
unique person and I'm sad she's gone.
