Meri just emailed me with sad news about Maria Oliva.

Hi Rose,

I just found out today that Maria Oliva died.  I happened to communicate with her brother, Larry and he gave me the sad news that she had passed away in May.

Maria was in the AC with me for three years and we also went to Chatham College together for a couple of years.  She was a bright, charming, charismatic, eccentric person who captivated those who knew her.  For example, when we were at Chatham, there was a very attractive, talented woman named Cheryl Hardwick who became friends with Maria.  You could tell she was very impressed with Maria's intelligence and quirkiness.

Well, Cheryl went on to become the pianist for the original band that played on Saturday Night Live for years.  That's the kind of person Maria had in her orbit, at least, at that time.

Unfortunately, I lost touch with her for many years. Maria was an interesting and unique person and I'm sad she's gone.

Very sad to hear of another classmate passing. Maria was in my Italian class with Miss Mafera. I think she wanted to be a UN Interpreter...and was energetic in class. I always
thought she wanted to be an actress...as she was very
energetic in class...........I hope she succeeded in her life's
wishes. It's always sad to hear about these things,..but it's important
that we know...and now we do thanks to Meri.
