Sharing - Medicare, Decisions, Decisions!

Autumn Sharing

WooHoo! I never thought I'd be excited to receive my Medicare Card in the mail but I surely am, as I have been denied coverage for the past 7 years due to an existing condition and paying out of pocket has caused me some financial distress. Lesson learned...always check what a medical office is coding your condition to an insurance company because it determines whether other insurance companies will accept you or not in the future......of course, this does not apply to Medicare but it was my problem for a very long time, so I welcome Medicare with open arms...not that I wish to be older!

Well, since we all are about the same age, most of us have already gone through the process in the decision making and so many questions that need answers has put us all in a position to research from several perspective companies regarding supplements and/or ask friends who have already gone through the process for some advice. Word of mouth is always the best!

Well, after I have absorbed an enormous amount of information....now the individual decisions are necessary to examine my personal needs and preferences. So much information.....too many options.....so confusing!

doctor HMO or PPO, selecting Primary Care Doctor, Part A, Part B,
Part D...yikes!

But, the best part is I will have health insurance again!

How are you all doing going through this process? Any advice? Any problems? what companies do you think is more beneficial than others? I know each county is different in all states. We should all be treated the same regarding Medicare but I guess we are not.

So far, in the State of Florida, Humana Gold Plus is the number one supplement provider that my friends here like the best and I'm leaning towards this option. I'm checking AARP and BlueCross as well.

Wow, can you believe we are all 65 years old or will be soon? Where did all the years go? Oh, take me back to the days of Revere High!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

The Liberal Lion dies at age 77.

BOSTON (Aug. 25) - Sen. Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts, the last surviving brother in a political dynasty and one of the most influential senators in history, died at his home on Cape Cod after a lengthy battle with brain cancer.

In nearly 50 years in the Senate, Kennedy served alongside 10 presidents — his brother John Fitzgerald Kennedy among them — compiling an impressive list of legislative achievements on health care, civil rights, education, immigration and more.

Bobby, Ted & Jack

Our Revere clan from Massachusetts are quite familiar with the Kennedy family. We knew everything about them as they hit the News print quite often.

On November 20, 1955, in a 21-7 defeat to Yale, Harvard's lone score came on a low five-yard pass that was snared by #88, the Senior Right End Ted Kennedy.

Just one month earlier, Kennedy's promise on the football field had caught the notice of Green Bay Packer Head Coach Lisle Blackbourn. "You have been very highly recommended to us by a number of coaches in your area and also by our talent scouts as a possible Pro Prospect," Blackbourn wrote to the young Right End.

Kennedy declined the offer, saying he was flattered, but that he had plans to attend law school and to 'go into another contact sport, politics'.

As Kate Michelman, the former president of NARAL, said: "Not having Ted Kennedy in the Senate is like driving without headlights. . . . There isn't anything you can say about the man that would capture totally his impact on social progress. For women's rights and the right to choose, we needed Ted Kennedy in the Senate."

Great Send from Sal Carmosino

Great Send

Rose,

Here are some pictures that Richard Bruno sent to me. One was of me in part of my Civil War uniform. I was going to see a friend in the hospital in my uniform later that day and showed it to Rich. The other is the two of us...he does look like a college professor doesnt he?

Hope you can put these on the blog. Rich sent a few corrections to my story, but seemed to enjoy the rest of it.
