Melissa's Story!

What an amazing "Great Send" from Melissa (Diane (Screnci) & Chuckie Beatrice's daughter) I was thrilled to receive this heartfelt story and beautiful pictures.

The following is in Melissa's own words.....I only added the Dairy Queen Ice Cream!

What can I say about my parents . . . a lot!

They are truly the BEST parents, grandparents and in-laws anyone could ask for.  My dad comes down from Revere to our house in Scituate every weekend to see one of the kid's games or just to play.   My mom comes down once during the week to help me with my house stuff (putting away the laundry is my least favorite chore and she always does it for me).  No matter how cold it is out, my dad goes in his pool with my kids.

There is nothing more in the world my kids would rather do than go to "Dee Dee and Pa's" house.  My parents, combined with "Nana", my Grandmother Josie, make for a fun trip (with really good food).   We vacation annually with them, and my Aunt Sheila and Uncle Richard, to Long Boat Key, Florida and we always have such a wonderful time.

Mom (with her love for shopping) is always buying my kids stuff.  I don't even get stressed for back to school shopping for 3 kids because she enjoys doing it.   My dad is like a big kid.  He loves to just play with the kids, just like he did with me when I was little.  He could sit on the floor for hours.  As I get older (40 in March - ouch!), I respect my parents more and more.

I strive to be the parents they were to me and I can only hope to be half the grandparents they are to my children.  My parents enjoy entertaining their friends and family at their house.  The food, fun and cheer is always flowing.

Their love, dedication and generosity to us (and their friends) is endless.

Well Diane, I may have not received the "Comment" I've been waiting for but with Melissa's help I got more!  Melissa did such a great job.  I just copied and pasted it all into the Lantern for all our friends to see and be happy for all of you!

Nothing is better than family!

  1. Melissa!
What an absolutely great honor to your parents.  Diane and Chuckie are, and have been for many years, good friends of mine and I feel lucky to know them.  They are great people.  How fortunate you are to have such wonderful parents. . .and, of course, it's great that you are so appreciative!

    of your mom and dads.
This is one of the best stories I have ever read.  They should be very

  3. Hi Melissa  Your family are beautiful and I know your mother and father are thrill to have them.  You did a wonderful job describing the great Mom and Dad and grandparents  they are.  I have known your mother since 6th grade and my husband and I use to double date back in high school with your Mom and Dad   They were very special people then and still are today.  You are a credit to them with the letter you wrote about them and the pictures are terrific.  You will always have those memories as well as your children will have them and they are priceless and I know Grandma Josie is a super person also.  I use to be at Mom's house on Sunday evening allot and Nonnie always made me an eggplant sandwich.  I don't see your Mom as often as I would like but her friendship is one I will always treasure.  God Bless You and your Family  Jeanine White

  5. Melissa,

What a wonderful tribute to your parents and what it says about you.  I was in your Mom's sorority in high school.  One of my memories is your Mom's 16th birthday party at, I think it was China Roma, and all that fabulous food which I miss terribly being here in California.  Nothing like Boston Chinese food anywhere.

Our high school years were terrific and I have missed seeing old friends through the years. We were unable to go to the reunion last year because our daughter was about to have her baby.  Another missed opportunity.

Your family is beautiful. Regards to Mom and Dad.

  6. Melissa,
A wonderful letter describing your parents and the great relationship
you and your children have with them.I was a classmate of your mothers
since the 7th grade and your father since high school.

Your mother, Diane has always been a warm and loving person.
When I was new to Revere and didnt know anyone in the 7th grade,
your mother made me feel welcome and that meant a lot to me
then. It still does to this day. I ve always considered her a special
friend, even though many years pass by between get togethers.

Your children will always remember the special times with their
grandparents. Its good that you have developed that kind
    of relationship.
God bless you and your family and thanks for writing.
