I received an email from Dora (DiBartolomeo) Vickery and her memory just amazes me. She asked me if I remembered the Boston Ballroom when some of us Revere High School classmates were on TV.
I replied........I do remember because I was on the Boston Ballroom TV but I can't remember who my dancing partner was..........hmmmm!
The subject was renting space in my head and I sent off an email to Meri and she certainly remembered more....here is her response: I love the new Blog. . .and yes, I do remember Boston Ballroom because I went on it and danced with Ronnie Lanza! I also remember what I wore (I had borrowed a blue-and-white herringbone jacket from Janet Campello, my best pal, and thought I looked cool until I saw myself on the camera and realized I just looked schoolgirlish. . .which is what I was) But it was so much fun! I remember Skippy Barone and oh, I just blanked on the other boy's name who was also a great dancer, and what a good time it was. Maybe it was Channel 4, WNAC-TV, perhaps?
Dora's request is to ask the entire class what they remember. So, please leave a comment or email me what you remember and I will post it online for you! I searched all over the web and in UTube trying to find some tidbit about Revere High at Boston Ballroom on TV but no luck. So, what better way than to ask all of you...........
Hey, John Henry........you know everything about Revere High...........would you know where I could get a copy of this TV tape when our class was on. Wouldn't that be a hoot to put that on the Lantern!
P.S. I also need more email addresses of our classmates.....I know I don't have Janet Campello's and many others........so if you see our friends.....and have their email addresses.......please send them to me so they can enjoy The Lantern!
I love the entry about Boston Ballroom. It will be great for us to share what ever little tidbit we have about it.
ReplyDeleteOh my I do remember Boston Ballroom but not because I was on it but rather Joe White My boyfriend at the time had been chosen for the class of 61 airing and I was so jealous because I have two left feet and had not been chosen I gave him a hard time so he decided he didn't care he wouldn't go but the girls mother called his mother and was crying how her daughter had gone out and got a new dress and she was so excited about it so he went. I don't even remember the who the girl was. It is so funny to remember those silly things that seem so important at the time. It was really important event for those who were chosen and a think a highlight of a memory of their highschool years. Of cours we all thought we look great at no matter what event or what we wore It just the way we were and teenagers still are We think we are great at all things if we want to do something even when we making a fool of ourselves but it still great to have the memories because if you can't laugh a little at yourself and the silly things we did back then what a waste Jeanine Erricol White
ReplyDeleteJeanine, it is funny that you remember it in the same way as I do. i never made it on, They had no use for two left feet. However Steve Holoway was going to be on and boy That really stirred things up. Here's to those of us left behind !
ReplyDeleteHow many gym classes were dedicated to dancing. Try that today ! We also had that Friday after sschool dance in the gym tdhat the two gym teacchers held for us. It did't last too long,.
Jeanine,
ReplyDeleteThat story is too funny! So, I guess Joe is quite the dancer! And, perhaps you were a tad jealous at the time! hehehehhe
Does anyone know the exact TV Station it was on? I tried looking at what Meri though perhaps was the station but nothing popped up.
Hugs, Rose
To Everyone!
ReplyDeleteI received an email today from John Henry and he referred me to contact Roger Ferullo regarding the Boston Ballroom.
I called today and the number must be his place of business. I left a message with the person who answered the phone. She promised me that she would personally call Roger at home and deliver my message to call me back.
Haven't heard back yet....hope he has some amazing News about The Boston Ballroom!
Hugs, Rose
