  1. I'm also testing a way for all of you to leave a comment with ease. You can leave a comment as "Anonymous" without a hassel but please leave your name on the bottom of your comment so we know who you are!

I'm trying my best to make things easier for all of you that are having a hard time creating an GMail account in order to leave a comment.

Let me know if this works.........don't forget to leave your name now!

  2. If this way of leaving comments creates SPAM, I will then have to revert back to the original way and then you will have to creat a GMail account...........I already got one spam that was pages long from an anonymous person.

  3. Hi Rose, I prefer this new way of displaying photos. They are much larger and easily viewed. I think that you are doing an outstanding job with the Lantern and rekindling our precious high school memories. Rich's pictures are breathtakingly beautiful. Thank you both for sharing them and the memories with us. Take care and keep up the fine job. We do appreciate your efforts.
    Love,
    Joanne N.

  5. Thank you for your input. I'm waiting for Richard's opinion.

But, I'm thrilled the anonymous way of leaving a comment is working and I have a larger audience now...........Yippee!!!!!!!

I received a pleasurable phone call last night from Estella Follett that found me by dialing information. She only uses her computer at her job and wants to send me a story she would like me to post on The Lantern for her. Isn't that wonderful! I'm so excited.

  11. Rich: Love all your photos.
    Especially the ones from Rockport.
I would take my mom to Rockport for
some shopping and those lobster rolls. Janice

  13. Hey Rich,

I set the photograph to XLarge and kept my fingers crossed.

I think the Revere Beach Postcards look great. You did your magic with the orginal photo on your computer.

Thanks for resending it. I love those memories.

Can anyone that still goes to Revere Beach tell us if that collection of postcards are still on the wall at Kelly's? Please leave a comment and keep us informed......Thanks!

  17. St. Ives, England

As I was going to St. Ives I met a man with seven wives,
Each wife had seven sacks, each sack had seven cats,
    Each cat had seven kits:
    kits, cats, sacks and wives,
How many were going to St. Ives?

Well, I went there but did not find any cats in a sack. Here is my “postcard” from St. Ives. Notice the ice cream stand? Have a nice Sunday. Rich

  18. Rose, in addition to visiting the bubbly caves of Pommery, I went into the Cathedral in Reims, France....a very impressive church. The windows at the rear of the church were painted by Marc Chagall—one of the few in Europe with such paintings. And down at the bottom right of this “postcard” is a portrait of Anon. Have a nice Sunday. Take care. Rich

  19. OMIG, who wouldn't love traveling around with you to all these beautiful places!

    Breathtaking!

You have a whole new career with that camera! Kudos!

  20. This certainly caught my attention......what woman doesn't love Prada!

    Hugs, Rose

    ReplyDelete
  21. Look at the contrasts in this photo of the Prada store: look at the shoes....the lighting...luxury vs. working class, plain clothes vs. Luxury items...how the vacuum cleaner seems to be alive like a python snake wrapping itself around the leg of the woman....how she holds her right arm and then look to the right and see the same angle....

    Ciao for now. Rich

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hi Rich,

Yes, I did notice the contrast...It also came to mind how were you able to catch a photo of the cleaning lady after or before store hours as a cleaning lady would never be visable to customers?????

Are you playing spy again? LOL

    Hugs, Rose

  23. Rich,
Where in the world are you finding
these great scenes for a photograph? You must be a great
traveler. The scenery of Europe is
    outstanding, like something out of
    a picture book...truly Kodak
    moments.
You have to be our class
photographer, so when you come to
the next reunion[ you will come wont you?], you should be our designated picture taker.
    Sal

  24. Anon calling.

Thanks, Sal, for the nomination as "Class Photographer" at the next reunion. That's too much pressure for me. I learned many years ago to enjoy "get togethers," not photograph them. I'll give you my camera and enjoy watching you take the photos!

  25. Rose, in Lubin there is a large cemetary with a section where Russians are burred, along with a very interesting, small Russian Orthodox
Chapel. Here is my postcard of the Orthodox Chapel, with a few photos of one section where the catholics are burried with candles, flowers, etc., and the other
Section, where the Russians are buried and hardly kept up at all. Take care. Rich

  26. Hi Rose. Just got back from Lublin, Poland, where I gave a paper at an international conference on the Cold War. Had a chance to walk around the city one day and took some photos. Here is my “Postcard from Lublin.” Hope you can open and display it. Take care. Rich

  27. Rich,

Thank you for forwarding some amazing photos from Poland.

You asked that I remove some of your older photos and that broke my heart to do it. (Of course, they are still saved in my personal computer)

    Be safe in your travels.

  28. Hey Anon,

Absolutely love the "Study of Light" collage of photos......you are so talented!

Everyone enjoys your photos so much.

I'm trying to figure out a way to have the Lantern PhotoShop up front because I know most will not remember to go into the month of October to view all the new photos that come in. And, for the new albums will be posted on the month they are sent to me. Hmmmmmmmm! I have to figure out something.

I'm going to see if I can remove the archive feature.

  30. Hi Rich,

Thank you for sending in the new photo this morning "Let the Music Play". I love it in black and white.

  31. Hi Rich, Loved the new picture. I am a big fan of Black and White. It is not an talent. I took a little camera course and the photographer showed us a lot of his black and whites, on some he would have one thing in color, such as a one flower on a door. or the door handle. He explained the technique and I understood not a word, I was still trying to figure what all the little symbols on my camera meant....LOL
    Thanks again

  32. Okay, so I'm in Florida. . .have been since February, enjoying the sunny weather and spending time with my 92 year old, never aging mother. . . days are endless and filled with bliss. . . I am escaping the frigid snowy winter up north and walking the beaches and viewing the tropical flora and fauna. . . and as I am on a stand-by, "buddy pass" ticket, I am hoping, indeed, am anxiously trying to return home tomorrow, . . . to my husband, my house, my dog, my activities, my bills, etc., etc. It's been a great vacation but it's time to return to reality, Anyway, I thought I'd check my e-mail on my sister's computer and, all of a sudden, for reasons unbeknownst to me, there appeared on the screen the most gorgeous photos by one Richard Cummings! I mean, they are breathtakingly beautiful pictures. . . I am ecstatic to see them! I am literally thrilled to see such beauty and wonder how such passion and emotion can be captured and transmitted to a screen!
There are so many fabulous photos! Quinessential European villages, streets and monuments, flowers of indescribable color and exquisiteness (?) and oh, I don't know, words are failing me. . . altogether, a gallery of extreme visual pleasure and a most rewarding afternoon experience.
    Thank you, Richie!

  33. Hi from Anon....thanks to everyone who has positively commented on my photos...I get as much enjoyment making the photos as some of you seem to get when looking at them. I have the click on my digital camera as loud as possible, as the click of the right moment is the total enjoyment of photography. So thanks, again. I hope to get around a little more in the next weeks and will share some new "clicking" moments with you. Ciao for now. Rich--oops, I mean Anon

  43. Rich, Great photo ! What building was that? I am not too up-to-date on what building is what in DC.
It must be real intresting being there for the fourth and seeing how they celebrate....In Boston we have the POPs and I love that. Other than that is such a shame to see such celebrations turned to big sales. We have the "fourth of July sale, the presidents day sale and it goes on and on. Our celebration of our history has turned into one be shopping spree.

  45. Hi Dora. Glad you like it. It is the Willard InterContinental Hotel. I actually fly out of DC tomorrow (the 4th) at 5:45 AM, heading to San DIego for a short family weekend before flying back to Düsseldorf 6 AM Monday. So I will not be in DC for the celebration. All major stores are open today and tomorrow here in DC, so much for a holiday. But the evening concert in front of the Capital Building and then the fireworks are supposed to be great. Have a 4th to remember.
