Since 1962, our little worlds have changed,
Among many other things, new technology reigns.
Though we’ve grown older, and in some cases, apart,
We’ve been able to reconnect and share what’s in our heart,
With dear classmates-friends and acquaintances—of yore.
We’re informed about their lives and we’re “in” on the lore.
Because of you, Rose, and your fabulous Lantern “blog”,
We are updated and entertained and steered out of the fog
About who’s doing what and….well…the who, what, where, why
Of the kids we’ve known and loved from many years gone by.
Your excellent work has clued us in our lives……
Our ups and downs, the high-points, the dives.
We know of the success, the sadness, the woes,
The happiness of some and for others, the lows…
You’ve kept us abreast of the “where are we now”
The “what are we doing and with whom and how”
You’ve worked so hard, and created such a great site
That we can’t imagine being without it, try as we might.
We wouldn’t know half of the things that we do,
About each other, and all because of you.
You know, it’s thrilling indeed to recall the past
And linger over memories too fleetingly past,
But we’ve in the present, and it’s better by far
To experience today, our lives as they are.
It’s fun to hear news from Joanne, Dora and Joe,
And Ruthie, Richard and so many others we know.
I love reading the comments and opinions of others,
We really are family, like sisters and brothers.
And to know that there are many dear friends out there
Who commiserate and empathize with us, and who really CARE.
Well, it’s just awesome and so are you, Rose
You are terrific, and your reputation grows.
We’re lucky you’re with us, right here and now,
So let us salute you. Please, stand up, and take a bow.
We really appreciate your wonderful effort and time
And we want to say Thank You, the Lantern is sublime!

Hello Everyone!
ReplyDeleteI'm in tears again reading Meri's lovely speech!
It was so wonderful to see all of you.
I thank you all for your beautiful card (Diane, I noticed the Dairy Queen ice cream on the card) and monetary gift.
I want you all to know that I truly enjoy maintaining this Blog for all of us.
Hugs, Rose
Nice photos...looks like a good time was had by all...I was there in spirit, though, as I see the rail-road bridge in the background...spent many a summer's day there as that was only a few hundred yards from we lived after 1960...got caught a few times by the "rangers" after illegally digging clams. Not sure what their title was but they were responsible for the marsh areas I never mentioned that on my security clearance background checks. Thanks for posting the photos, Rose. Ciao for now. Anon
ReplyDeleteHey Anon,(Rich)
ReplyDeleteI was secretly wishing you would surprise us all and walk in the door!
Maybe next time.
Hugs, Rose
Meri, that was a wonderful
ReplyDeletepoem you wrote and presented
at the luncheon. It deserves
to be preserved and entered here.
Rose...great job on the pictures and the music....Im sure everyone will enjoy them, particularly the
ones that couldnt make it.
We can all relive this day each time we see this....

Meri,
ReplyDeleteLoved the poem. You and Diane did a great job organizing everything. I am so glad I went. Hard to believe it's been (gulp!) 47 years. I think Kathy Crane and I were the only ones there representing all the other "Beachmont kids", maybe next time there will be more of us. Great seeing everyone and catching up on all those years.
Ruthie (Arvanian) Bowler
Ruthie, it was so nice to see you there. I had to laugh when I saw you say that there were only two of you there representing the 'beachmont kids'. well, maybe there were only two at the luncheon, but I have always commented on how many of the beachmont crew were contributing to the Lantern, lots of pictures and intrest and paraticipation. Their spirit was definetaly a part of the day. What a great group. again it was so great to see the person behind the "art word" and photos. So so very glad you were there....
ReplyDeleteOh yes Merri and Diane thank you both for going the extra mile to put this together. This was not easy for either of you as you both have so much going on in your own lives, it was just so gracious of you both to have done what you did and in the way that you did.
