AND FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT PLEASURE, A CUTE POEM SENT TO ME FROM JANICE SCANDONE:
May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize.
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs.
Rose,
ReplyDeleteAnd a very happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
And also thanks for the "History of Thanksgiving" which was very interesting.
It does make us reflect how many things we have to be grateful for.
Arthur
Rose, This is a nice story about Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteA Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone at the Lantern. I love this holiday.
ReplyDeleteOur first year in this house, I did Thanksgiving for my husband's and my families. His sister and I unfortunately allowed the marshmallows to catch on fire on top of the sweet potatoes. It struck us funny and the two of us couldn't stop laughing through the entire meal.
I continue to do the Thanksgiving dinner and even tho the sweet potatoes have been flame-free since then, every year for the past 38 years, someone always reminds us of the marshmallow fire. Some things you can never live down!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
ReplyDeleteJanice, Ireally enjoyed the little verse, it will be my little motto for the day...
Hi Dora, I want that to be my motto too, but I make no promises. LOL Janice

ReplyDeleteJust a quick "after Thanksgiving" message. . . need a break from untangling Christmas wires and putting up my little trees. . . to say that I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. On a personal note, my gravy, which in Thanksgivings past, has always been smooth, this year was indisputably lumpy and also, I'm sorry to say, a bit thin. So I had to drag out the blender, into which I poured the gravy hot from the pan on the stove (which I had been stirring like mad), and gave it a whirr or two. . . after which it came out smooth and a little thicker (and yes, I had added a bit of cornstarch earlier in the process. . . hence, the lumps. . .)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, after that, all went well and a good time was had by all. . . the food was good and plentiful and I am grateful and thankful for family and friends and for just being here to enjoy it all.

Just a quick "after Thanksgiving message" (to calm my nerves while in the midst of putting up Christmas decorations--untangling wires, dragging stuff down from the attic and hauling trees up from the basement, etc., etc.)
ReplyDeleteHope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful day!
