Meet Rocco, Donna's 4 year old grandson!

Oh course. He looks like his grampa, yes he is Randy's son, my only grandchild.  I hope more are coming someday.  After all I have 6 kids, one son and 5 daughters.

In Memory of Sepember 11, 2001

flag

On Saturday, September 11th, 2010, an American flag should be displayed outside every home, apartment, office, and store in the United States . Every individual should make it their duty to display an American flag on this anniversary of one of our country's worst tragedies. We do this to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms.

In the days, weeks and months following 9/11, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds.

Action Plan:

So, here's 2 suggestions

(1) Take a moment to think back to how you felt on 9/11 and let those sentiments guide you.

(2) Fly an American flag of any size on 9/11

God Bless You and God Bless America!

Great Shares from Joe Greenberg

Dear Rose:

You are more than kind to send out this message. We would call you a "mensch" and you would be more than deserving of this term. Your effort goes beyond just passing along greetings; you have given all of us a clear understand of these holidays and their importance to all Jews.

Thanks again, Joe Greenberg

Our Jewish Classmates will be celebrating Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur!

Rosh Hashanah is considered the time of redemption, the day of judgment and is considered a solemn festival. On this day, G_d Almighty decides the future fate for each and every Jewish individual for the coming year — a person's fate is judged yearly. On Rosh Hashanah they are inscribed in the Book of Life. On Yom Kippur, which is ten days later, the Book is sealed.

The days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are called The Ten Days of Penitence which is also known as the Ten Days of Teshuvah. During the ten days, up until Yom Kippur (The Day of Atonement) one is to evaluate themselves and hopefully come to the realization that they are to do good in accordance with G_d's will.

Great Send from Richard Cummings in honor of Labor Day 2010

Hi Rose,

In honor of Labor Day 2010, Let me take you back in time--sixty years ago, in fact:

On September 4, 1950, World War II hero Dwight D. Eisenhower passionately called for an American Crusade for Freedom and support of Radio Free Europe in a speech broadcast nation-wide over the four major radio networks.

In my article posted today at historytimes.com, I briefly look at this important Cold War speech. There are photographs of Eisenhower signing a Freedom Scroll, the Freedom Scroll itself, newspapers advertisements from 1950 in behalf of the Crusade for Freedom and RFE, and one of the package of Freedom Scrolls sent to New York for eventual delivery to Berlin with General Lucius D. Clay.

If you do read it, please make give it a rating and leave a comment, if you wish. Here is the link that should work

Have a nice Thursday and holiday weekend.
