Great Send from Richard Cummings in honor of Labor Day 2010

Hi Rose,

In honor of Labor Day 2010, Let me take you back in time--sixty years ago, in fact:

On September 4, 1950, World War II hero Dwight D. Eisenhower passionately called for an American Crusade for Freedom and support of Radio Free Europe in a speech broadcast nation-wide over the four major radio networks.

In my article posted today at historytimes.com, I briefly look at this important Cold War speech. There are photographs of Eisenhower signing a Freedom Scroll, the Freedom Scroll itself, newspapers advertisements from 1950 in behalf of the Crusade for Freedom and RFE, and one of the package of Freedom Scrolls sent to New York for eventual delivery to Berlin with General Lucius D. Clay.

If you do read it, please make give it a rating and leave a comment, if you wish. Here is the link that should work

Have a nice Thursday and holiday weekend.

Rich

I tried to leave a comment on that site but I don't think it went through. I will check again later.

  2. Dear Rose: Thanks again for sending so much wonderful material our way. I always look forward to my emails because I know something will be there from you. Richard's work is amazing and it is so much fun to see what our classmates are doing.

I want to wish all of our September friends a Happy Birthday and 100 more and if you have any email addresses for them, please send them along. That way I can send individual greetings.

    Be well, Joe
