Five Days & Nights of Torture and no Sleep!

Hi Everyone!

OMIG, I finally resolved the computer error messages I was receiving.

Tons of phone calls, emails, back and forth to India, horrible language barrier, major pleading with them........Ugh. Loss of sleep trying to resolve the error messages I was receiving.............I was a wreck.

Well, looks like I'm back up and running and now placed on the "White List" to send out bulk mail. Who knew I had to do this!

On a very serious note: If anyone wishes to be removed from the Lantern List, please, please, please, email me personally and I will take your email address off the list. But do not click on the button that says: "This is a Spam". That creates havoc not only for me but for everyone.

Thanking you in advance for your time and attention to the very serious above message!

I have not placed the Anonymous feature back on yet. So, if you can use your regular email address to leave a comment or create one with Google fine. If you are unable to do this let me know and I will see what I can work out regarding that matter.

Hugs, Rose

Sharing - by Joe Greenberg

Dear Rose:

I contacted Richie Bonaventura and had a wonderful "reunion" on the phone. He is in Florida and on his way to a cruise with his wife and friends. He won't be back in time for the luncheon, but wishes he could be there. He wishes everyone his best.

I hope you are well, Joe

Hi Joe,

Thanks for sharing with us. We would all love to see Richie Bonaventura at our next mini reunion. I hope you got his email address so he can join us on The Lantern.

I hope we can see him in December.
Hugs, Rose

Dear Rose:
Great idea. I am usually home during Christmas time (although it is possible Roberta and I will be in Israel for our daughter's "second" wedding. She will be married here in September and then one in Israel. No date set yet.

Be well thanks for being so responsive, Joe

Important Notice

Hello Everyone!

This is a very important notice regarding this wonderful Blog for our class of 62.

Someone perhaps accidentally clicked on "This is a Spam" instead of clicking on Delete when through reading the Blog and/or leaving a comment.

I have received four notices that my email address is being blocked due to member complaints and/or high volumes of e-mail. I'm still researching what error 554 is. So, if any savvy computer tech out there knows........please contact me. Thanks.

Well, I spent the entire weekend trying to resolve these issues. I followed all the suggestions from a Live Help Tech from AOL which none have resolved the problems so far.
I'm trying to contact Google, who owns Blogger.com and also GMail.

So, for the time being to protect my email address and The Lantern which I work very hard at. I have discontinued the us of "Anonymous" feature for leaving "Comments". Sorry folks, I had no choice in the matter. Rich, I know you like to use this feature but registering is very simple....just use your own email address and user name and it should go through. Or follow the instructions via Google. My girlfriend said it was simple and she is not computer savvy. If you are on Hotmail or Gmail already......I believe you can leave a comment without any issues.

Most importantly, should any of you wish to have your email removed from The Lantern. Please contact me personally at rjsisti@aol.com and I will be happy to remove your email address so you will no longer receive emails from me regarding The Lantern.

But, I beg you, please do not click on "This is a Spam". The consequences is what we will all face if we lose this site. I know most of us are enjoying getting reacquainted with each other and I would like to keep it that way.

Sorry for the inconvenience of removing the Anonymous Feature. I'm trying to follow all of the suggestions I received to keep this Blog safe and my personal email address as well.

Thanking you all in advance for your time and attention to the above matter. And, I appreciate you complying with the above. Most of you have been able to sign in and leave a comment without any problems. And, Sal, you have a GMail account now so you can use that to sign in.
I also had to disable the Alert feature for now until I'm able to fix all this...............Ugh.

I can still post an entry online and add my cute graphics and all your wonderful photos, etc. It is my email address that is being punished because of someone's complaint. For this, I'm very saddened and quite surprised. I'm just hoping it was an innocent mistake on someone's part.

So, for the friends that enjoy this site, please continue to use it as always. For those who do NOT wish to use this site. Just contact me and I will gladly remove your email address but PLEASE DOE NOT CLICK ON SPAM OR JUNK MAIL................

If anyone has any questions or concerns, please contact me personally.

Hugs, Rose

Say it isn't so,Ted! by Richard Cummings

Rose,

"I am shocked, shocked, I tell you"..."say it isn't so, Ted." The RED I repeat RED SOX played last night and wore GREEN!!! "Is this the revenge of Kermit the Frog?" he asked, while crying into his computer screen.

I guess I have been outside the USA too long...but do I want to go back to Green Sox? Rich

Hi Rich,

Relax my friend, I did my homework here from Florida and contacted my kids in Boston immediately after receiving this email from you. Well as it turns out it was done for Earth Day! Whew! But, I admit I think they took it a step too far by changing the colors even if it was done for one day! Yes, I try to go GREEN every chance I get to save the environment but let's not change the Red Sox's uniforms please! Ted would roll over in his grave!

Well, it brought them luck like Michelle said as they won the game!

My kids report that the Red Sox continue environmentally-sustainable practices at Fenway Park 2009 Earth Day presented by National Grid includes Uniforms featuring Red Sox' greening logo and CFL bulb recycling by Waste.

The first photo you sent and the second is one sent to me by my daugther, Michelle. What's with the logo on the sleeve.....did they also go green for St. Paddy's Day too?????????? Hey, Red Sox........leave the uniforms alone!

Beautiful What???? from Richard Cummings

Hi Rose, I think I went beyond the color limits this evening...but I have no idea what I photographed...do you? If not, let's put it up and ask? This has become my favorite collage--only wish I knew what these little things are. Thanks. Rich

Rose, when I look at this collage, I think of being in an aquarium looking at tropical fish. I guess that is why I like these flowers so much. They are smaller than my "pinkie," yet there is something majestic and magical about them. Take care, Rich

Boston photos by Ruthie (Arvanian) Bowler

Girl with camera

Hi Rose,

After seeing Rich's super photos of Boston, I decided to send this along to the Lantern.

I took these pictures 2 years ago when I was attending a Mass. College of Art reunion. It was taken from the top floor of their tower building (used to be the old Boston State College building) corner of Huntington and Longwood Avenues. The sun was starting to set and everything turned to gold. I don't know what the tall building in between the Pru and the John Hancock is.

P.S. Am I doing this right? Or is there a way I should be posting pictures directly onto the Lantern?

Boston in the 1970s from Richard Cummings

Rose,

I came across a bunch of photos that I took in the late 1970s from the top of the old Custom's House building in downtown Boston, when I was working as a Criminal Investigator for the US Gov--allowed me to get to the top of the building, after they closed the observation point to the public.

I doubt if anyone from our gang ever made it to the top of the building to take in this view, so I am sending a view of Boston than one normally sees, especially now with all the re-construction that took place on the Causeway--is it still the Big Dig?

Cheers! Rich

Great Shares-Joe Greenberg

Dear Rose:

Good to hear from you and it is wonderful to view your absolutely wonderful site. You have done a remarkable amount of work and created a magnificent resource for our class. I thank you for doing this. I am just beginning to explore the site, as I have been pretty busy with work and travel, but as time frees up, I will review the whole site.

You asked for a "what have you been doing" and I haven't figured out how to get this on the website, so here is a brief description:

My wife Roberta and I will celebrate my/our 37th wedding anniversary in August of this year. We have two children, Jason (31) and Abbey (29). Jason is a lawyer in Boston (he earned a B.A. from The George Washington University and then his law degree from Suffolk Law School). Abbey also earned her B.A. from The George Washington University and the earned an M.A. from Brandeis University. Abbey works in the area of social justice and just became engaged to be married two days ago.

I spent 24 years (1974-1998) as a professor at The George Washington University in the Graduate School of Education and Human Development, directing a doctoral program in Higher Education Administration. This was an absolutely wonderful experience and one that I will cherish for the rest of my life. The job allowed me to travel to more than 20 countries and work with the departments/ministries of education in many of those countries.

My family and I lived in Korea for a semester when I was a visiting professor to a Korean University and I spent considerable time in Brasil as a Fulbright Scholar. I retired from teaching in 1998 and became Professor Emeritus and took the position of Regional Director of Admissions in New England for GWU and my wife and I moved from D.C./Virginia to New Hampshire. After almost 7 years in New Hampshire, we moved to Brookline, MA where we now reside.

I have reconnected with many old friends and have renewed my love for Revere Beach and spend many days there each summer. I am happy to be home and I am happy that I will be able to rekindle friendships with former classmates.

I thank you again for doing this Rose. Be well and see you next month, Joe
