German-American Festival

Here is an Entry that Richard Cummings sent to me from Germany and wants to share with all of you!  Amazing pictures!

Hi. I spent the past few days in Berlin doing some research...came across the poster of an upcoming German-American festival (carnival).  The theme this year is Massachusetts.  I just had to make a photo to share with the "gang" back in the USA.  I remember these festivals from my time in Berlin 40 years ago: rides, music, American food.  Very happy to see the tradition continuing.

Included in this years festival is an exhibiton honoring the Berlin Airlift 1948-49, when the only way food and other supplies were sent to Berlin was via the old prop airplanes over the Soviet occupied zone of Gemany.  I have also attached a memorial to the Americans who died during the airlift, and a painting depicting some of the airlift scenes.  Take care.  Rich
