Joanne is a Susan Hayward Fan!

I have been fan of  Susan Hayward for many years.   My friend Trish and I (whom I met through the Susan Hayward Site run by Ginger Haydon) spent four days in New York City seeing the sights and stayed at the Waldorf Astoria.  We knew that Susan had stayed there on many occasions as well as most other celebrities and European Royalty so we decided to join that select group!!

Trish, who is from the U.K. had been corresponding with Susan Hayward's youngest granddaughter Ally, who suggested we all meet up as we were in New York at the same time.  Ally and her boy friend met us at Ground Zero on the 3rd of July and we spent the whole day with them.  This was quite an emotional experience and we visited Susan's old High School in
Brooklyn, Prospect Park Heights
plus the Botanic Gardens where there was a commemorative stone in her honor.

The night of July 4th, we were fortunate enough to obtain tickets to see Gypsy on Broadway with Patti LuPone.  She filled the theater with her commanding presence and needless to say, we enjoyed the show immensely.

Trish and I have been corresponding for over two years and we share a mutual respect and admiration for Susan Hayward's many outstanding performances such as : With a Song in My Heart (the life story of Jane Froman);  I'll Cry Tomorrow (Lillian Roth's life story) and her Oscar Winning Performance of 1959 in I Want To Live.

We will always cherish the wonderful memories of our trip and especially meeting Ally.
