Rose, could you please post this:
Looking for Crusade for Freedom / Radio Free Europe materials from the 1950s: photos (like Debbie and Eddie), newspaper and magazine articles, sound or film (aka audio and video).
Anyone have anything???? Thanks for listening. Rich
Hi Rich, How are you doing in your search for the Crusade for Freedom? I keep looking to see if I have anything that may be of help but I could come up with nothing. Seeing that picture of Debbie Reynolds and Eddy Fisher got me thinking about so many things around that time. Do you remember the Civil Air Patrol? I believe that the old Revere Airport had something going with regards to that. That was quite a facinating era, so much was going on and so much of it has been forgotten.
ReplyDeleteYou really do get us all thinking...
Hi Dora. Thanks for your post. I clearly remember walking down to the airport and watching the planes go up and down, up and down, up and down. You are right about the CAP. This is from 1955: The "Freedom Sky Drop" project, sponsored jointly by the CAP and the American Legion, is part of tile Crusade for Freedom in support of Radio Free Europe, and tentative "plans call lor 40 CAP planes
ReplyDeletelo drop Crusade- educational materials over 50 cities throughout the slate (Mass) next Tuesday noon." But I cannot find any references that the CAP did that in Revere. Ciao for now
